Jesus as Revealed in the Gospels

All the difference. But how do you arrive at that answer, especially when a secular society tells you that the question doesn't matter, or that it's not the right question. Even the Christian world today answers that question only with qualifiers. Frank Sheed took on that question and clearly elucidated the difference. Jesus makes a difference because his life and death restored us and the world to God. We can now live in union, today, with the divine, in anticipation of eternal life after our death, a death which was conquered by Christ's sacrifice. Sheed urges us to look closely at the Christ of the Gospels, not the "historical" Christ, or the Christ who we distort to fit our agendas or mollify our fears and concerns. Read what Jesus said and did in the Gospels. See what he shows us about God and the Holy Spirit. Of course the elaboration and development of doctrine is valid, but even the study of this must start with the words of the Gospels and, complementarily, with the oral tradition of the early Church. Read this book and go back to square one, to the basics, not to retreat to the past or to ignore mature doctrine, but to build from a secure foundation.
